"SINGAPORE, AMSTERDAM & SWITZERLAND"

I am heading off for the very first time over
seas...
I am going to Switzerland with Christian, we have
stop overs in Singapore & Amsterdam...
This is still a scary thought for me, with less
then 24 hrs until we depart, it really hasn't hit
me, I guess it will with our 4am start tomorrow
to fly out from the Gold Coast airport to Sydney
where we will depart for singapore around 4pm
tomorrow afternoon....
I hope to grow from this experiance, new people
with new experiances and cultures that are
different to me & mine....
I will be away from the 28th June until the 13th
August 2008, we land in Cairns & will drive back
to stuarts Point in about 2 wks to a month, not
too sure on that just yet....

"THE YARRAHAPINNI FESTIVAL 29TH - 30TH AUGUST '08"

Stuarts Point is hosting this festival wich will
see the opening night at the local town hall with
an Arts and Crafts exhibition from local artists..
I have entered items (paintings & driftwood) and
donated a piece for the fund raising raffle.
Again I am disapointed because I won't be here
for the festival but we donated our time for the
committee and have aided them in some small way,
the exhibition will run the entire week end...

"MACLEAY VALLEY COMMUNITY ART GALLERY PART 2"

We sold at the Gallery, I sold 'Rock Holes' and
Christian sold 'The Lakes', we are both very
pleased...
I have also handed in three more paintings for
NAIDOC week at the Gallery, how many will hang
will depend on how many exhibitors there will
be?...
I am slightly disapointed that I won't be able to
see them hanging among the other Aboriginal
Artists but to be there is a privilage, NAIDOC
week exhibition runs from the 6th to the 13th
July '08...

'CRESCENT HEAD ART EXHIBITION'

This week end just gone, We entered
several paintings in the Crescent Head Art
exhibition 2008, keep in mind this is new ground
for me as in
the past I have only displayed my art on my own
walls or in the Uralla show, so fused with a
little adrenalin & confusion I threw caution to
the wind & took the plunge (mind you not a lot of
convincing was needed). We arrived early & looked
around & found out where we had been placed,
Christian noticed one of his driftwood hanging
the wrong way, quickly he asked if it could be
hung properly, he was able to and within minutes
he sold it, incredible.
Most of the evening was socializing, speaking to
fellow artists and enjoying the atmosphere, it
was great.
We arrived Sunday afternoon to pick up the
remaining art works when we discovered I had sold
one of my paintings and Christian had sold
another driftwood and to our surprise both were
bought
by the Kempsey Mayor Betty Green, amazing really.
I was just pleased I had sold another
painting but this time via an exhibition & not
ebay or the Stuart Point Bowling Club Markets,
granted I'm not complaining but there is a little
more satisfaction this way, to date I have sold
ten of my art works, I now have two of them
internationally, not bad for someone who has only
been painting seriously for the past eighteen
months.
So again I must thank everyone who has bought one
of my art & to Christian for his inspiration,
THANK YOU...
Check out the pictures in the 'SOLD' photo
album......

" SELLING MY ART ON EBAY"

I have started to sell my art on ebay, it's a hit
and miss world but out of 8 paintings (small
sizes) I've sold 4, 2 in QLD & 2 in VIC to
individual people, to whom I Thank,to be honest I
didn't expect to sell any, I didn't see myself
sellable as an artists plus the idea of selling
one's art to the world (well ok Australia) seemed
to dawnting a task but I did it with the help of
Christian, whom I proberly wouldn't have done it
without, so 'THANK YOU' Christian but I think
you've created a monster LOL........

"WHAT A YEAR"

It's been a long time between 'blogs' but I'm
back, what a year it has been, my eyes are working
well, I have excepted the lenses & am amazed at
the difference, my sight has improoved but the
elements do reek some havoc with sunlight & winds,
so caution, we also did a road trip througout QLD
that took us to the 'Capricorn Coast' on the lower
coast of QLD, I saw more of Queensland then I
thought possible, the people where friendly yet
not, it was amazing the abuse we got on the roads,
incredible, perhaps it was the NSW licence plates
or the fact it was 'State Of Origan' time, who
knows, we (NSW) lost anyway, go figure!, I caught
up with long lost family in Bundaberg, was nice to
reconnect, our favourite spot without a doubt
was 'Bargara' on the coastline from Bundaberg,
beautiful weather & great camping ground but
unfortunately the trip took us further north to
Yepoon on the Capricorn Coast where the weather
was wind & misty rain, was a step away from
Bargara, we also had met a few fellow travellers
during our trip, a couple from germany & the UK,
the trip then took us back down to Brisbane where
we side tracked down to Moree then to Uralla, a
visit for Mum's birthday, apart from the visit to
Uralla we had slept almost every night in a tent
in various caravan parks, I haven't gone camping
in years but it was well worth the experiance,
would do it again in a heartbeat, since then I
have spent most of my time on the Mid North Coast,
between visits to Newcastle where we saw
the 'Pasha Bulker', yes took the usual photo's and
the next day I saw Chris off to Switzerland from
Sydney, he had gone back to see his family for two
months, he had taken several paintings for his
Niece, including one from me (mentioned in 'My
Painting's'in the photo section), I spoke to her
on Skype & she thanked me for the painting & how
she felt on my art, it was good to hear feedback,
I enjoyed speaking with Pascale. I returned to the
Point to house sit while Chris & B where over seas
(B was in the UK), I came back to Newcastle to
greet the guys in Sydney. Chris & I got involved
with the Bowraville theatre, where we helped set
up the stage & helped in the dressing room for the
performance of 'Rio In Bowraville', a few local
drag queens put the show on for charity, we also
did the music for the intervals, Chris did his ten
tracks & I did mine, we saw the show from both
perspectives, behind the scenes & in
the audiance the following week, we enjoyed both
nights but enjoyed being backstage with the girls
even better.
After eleven years of living in Newcastle I'm now
oficially living in Stuarts Point on the Mid North
Coast of NSW, it was a brave move but nothing that
I do not regret, despite a few odd opinions from
the 'locals' we three came to a decision, a big
suggestion on B's part that set the ball in
motion, a few weeks later & it's all said and done.
So life has now set me a new task, a new
adventure, a new beginning, a new relationship and
friendship that I am looking forward to see what
becomes......

"I WAS LIKE A CHILD"

I stared wearing my contacts on friday the 27th of
April '07, almost a week later I can gladly say I
had them in for six hours, still with a little
discomfort and a few set backs (I took a day off
due to a minor irratation) I now face the
challenge of a seven hour day then eight, if today
is any indication it should be a breeze.
It was also the first time I had gone outside for
a walk with them in, Chris and I walked to the
shops here at Stuarts Point, something we've done
many times before but this time it was with my new
eyes, I was amazed, I was looking up streets I had
just walked by without a second thought, I could
count the rocks on the road, I could see
individual peices of grass, I was like a child in
a candy store, a whole new world before me, I
couldn't take it in, I can't wait to do it again.
On the return from the shops I told Chris what a
guy from OPSM had said to me and it was "I am
missing out on so much", he was right, I was
missing out of everything.....
